ESPN’s College GameDay and SEC Nation panels predict the UGA-Florida outcome
ESPN’s College GameDay and SEC Nation crews gave their opinions on the annual grudge match between UGA and Florida. The Philadelphia Phillies mascot, the Philly Phanatic, was the show’s guest picker and he caused some disagreement on the set when he picked UGA.
The Phanatic made quite a demonstration when choosing the Bulldogs. The mascot dumped a box of dog treats all over the set and prompted Lee Corso to drop his trademark line.
Here are the experts’ predictions:
ESPN’s College GameDay panel
- Desmond Howard – Florida
“The Gators defense will score,” Howard said. “I have Florida beating Georgia.”
- Lee Corso – Florida
“Not so fast, (Phily) Phanatic,” Corso said to the show’s guest picker. “Florida wins this game on defense.”
- Kirk Herbstreit – UGA
“Phanatic, I’m with you,” Herbstreit said. “I’m going with Georgia to be inspired and I think they’re going to pull an upset.”
SEC Nation panel
- Tim Tebow – Florida
“What scares me from being a Florida supporter is that everybody is overlooking Georgia,” Tebow said. “Everybody is overlooking Faton Bauta… But I do think Florida has too much talent. They find a way to win in the fourth quarter in a very, very close game.”
- Marcus Spears – Florida
“I’m taking Florida because of that defense,” Spears said.
- Greg McElroy – Florida
- Paul Finebaum – UGA
“I liked Georgia before the year,” Finebaum said. “They need a win to stay alive.”
