This fall, Thomas visited South Carolina several times season, including the games against East Carolina, Missouri and Western Carolina. He also visited Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Clemson for games.
In interviews with SEC Country, Thomas has detailed his interest in several of his suitors from the SEC.
Alabama: “Tim Williams and Ryan Anderson are both projected to be first-round picks, and that position is low because they only have one commitment on the defensive line in the 2017 class, so I am very needed. It doesn’t really make a difference, even if the depth was thick. I would still be willing to go because I know my work ethic and what I am capable of.”
Florida: “I’ll definitely be coming back here. It was a great environment. Crowd was loud and the defense looked really good out there. This is just a special place. They’re building a whole new facility, but it’s just not that. It’s about life after football.”
South Carolina: “(Will Muschamp) just tells me I can come in and be a game-changer, be a face of the defense and I’m just the No. 1 priority for 2018. He compared me to Dante Fowler, when he coached him at Florida.”
Earlier this summer, he listed a top 4 of South Carolina, Clemson, Florida State and Ohio State.
According to the 247Sports composite, Thomas is the No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2018.
