The trailer for EA Sports Madden NFL 17 is out on YouTube and it includes a heavy dose of players who paved their way to the pros at SEC schools.
We spent countless hours analyzing the trailer frame-by-frame (OK, it was really just a few minutes) and we identified six former SEC stars who made the cut for the trailer for one of the most popular sports related video games out there. Madden 17 is scheduled to be released Aug. 23.
Here is an interesting fact. None of the SEC players in the trailer played at Alabama.
Seems a little odd that a college team that has won four national titles in seven years wouldn’t get a guy into that mix. Then again, this is a game based on the NFL and players who were stars in college don’t always end up dominating in the NFL.
As you might expect, the trailer is loaded with Denver and Carolina, last season’s Super Bowl teams. Broncos linebacker Von Miller, a product of Texas A&M, and Carolina quarterback Cam Newton, a Heisman Trophy winner at Auburn, are featured prominently. Miller’s teammate Shane Ray, a former star at Missouri also made it into the trailer.
Former Georgia running back Todd Gurley (now with the Los Angeles Rams) and LSU standouts Spencer Ware (Kansas City) and Patrick Peterson (Arizona) also were in the trailer.
