This election should be a bit move civil.
Four SEC players are among 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes senior Football Bowl Subdivision players who excel in community, classroom, character and competition.
Ole Miss is the nation’s only school to have two nominees, as tight end Evan Engram and quarterback Chad Kelly were cited. Alabama tight end O.J. Howard and LSU defensive back Tre’Davious White also made the list.
All four are standouts on the field but have proven to be no slouches off it, as well.
White is a sports administration major and has helped with his teammates in helping Baton Rogue flood victims get back on their feet. Howard has graduated and is pursuing a master’s degree. He regularly visits children’s hospitals in the Birmingham area.
Engram hopes to pursue a career in broadcast journalism or marketing and helps with physically and mentally handicapped individuals. Kelly is a general studies major and has done spring break mission trips to Haiti in each of the last two years.
