Freshman sensation Owen Pappoe didn’t see the field much over the weekend in Grayson High School’s upset of Archer.
And that would come as a surprise if you’ve ever seen his offer list.
Pappoe, a freshman linebacker, reported 11 offers before ever stepping on the field at Grayson, a list that includes Tennessee, UGA and Auburn, among others.
“Having offers coming into high school, it just made me want to work harder,” Pappoe told the AJC over the weekend.
Is it too early for the 6-foot-1, 194-pounder to have any favorites?
“I like all schools the same right now,” Pappoe said. “I don’t exactly have any favorites.”
While he may not have any clear-cut favorites, Pappoe gushed a little when asked about his SEC offers.
“That just … the fact that they’re SEC schools it just made me very excited,” Pappoe said. “Good schools like Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, it’s just crazy.”
Ironically, Pappoe says he’s never had a rooting interest. He just started playing football two years ago, which is around the same time he started watching college football, particularly UGA.
He was in attendance for the Bulldogs’ season-opener against Louisiana-Monroe last week.
“They’re a very good team,” Pappoe said. “Great coaching staff.”
