Neither Alabama’s Lane Kiffin nor Florida’s Doug Nussmeier are headed to Fresno State.
The Bulldogs hired former California coach Jeff Tedford to fill their open head coaching position on Wednesday night.
KMJ’s Alexan Balekian broke the news on Twitter.
Kiffin, a Fresno State alum, and Nussmeier, the Bulldogs’ former offensive coordinator, were both rumored to be candidates for the job, which opened up when Tim DeRuyter was fired on Oct. 24.
Tedford is a big-name hire for FSU. He is best known for developing several NFL quarterbacks — including two-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers — at Cal, and he’s since served as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator and the BC Lions’ head coach.
He was officially listed as an offensive consultant on the University of Washington’s football staff this season.
