Two losses in the SEC (or Big Ten) may not eliminate its champion from the College Football Playoff, according to CBS analyst Gary Danielson.
He said as much on the CBS broadcast of No. 1 Alabama and No. 6 Texas A&M. Both teams entered undefeated, but a loss likely wouldn’t doom either. Danielson listed each among his 15 teams still alive, along with three other SEC teams: LSU, Florida and Tennessee.
Danielson’s list of 15 replicates colleague Jerry Palm’s list but adds three teams because of his two-loss reasoning. New to Danielson’s list are Tennessee and LSU from the SEC and Wisconsin, which could still triumph in the Big Ten despite two losses.
Apparently, however, two losses are too many for SEC teams Auburn and Arkansas. The 4-2 Tigers jumped to a big early lead over the 5-2 Razorbacks in their matchup Saturday evening at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
