BRADENTON, Fla. — The nation’s No. 1 overall prospect spoke with reporters following Paramus Catholic’s 28-20 loss to IMG Academy on Friday and provided an indication of where he’ll be taking his remaining three official visits.
As it stands, 5-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary said Ole Miss, UGA, LSU, Clemson, Alabama, Notre Dame and USC are all possible contenders for his remaining allotted trips. That is good news for the aforementioned programs.
Gary has already taken an official visit to Michigan (Sept. 25) and is scheduled to take another to Auburn on Nov. 28.
“I’m trying to knock out my officials and from there I’ll know who is ahead,” Gary told reporters.
One school vying for an official visit is LSU. The Tigers were represented by defensive line coach Ed Orgeron on Friday, as he was one of several coaches to make the trek to Bradenton to get a look at the blue-chip talent.
The 6-foot-4, 311-pound defensive tackle was flattered by his appearance.
“Seeing Coach Orgeron shows he has a lot of love for me,” Gary told reporters. “He came to watch me play, and that means they really care for me.”
Will his relationship with Orgeron be enough to secure an official visit? Only time will tell, but Gary did confirm that he will be taking his third official visit in December and his final two in January. He has plans to announce his commitment at the Under Armour All-America game in Orlando on Jan. 2, but he may hold off until National Signing Day.
Gary is the consensus No. 1 player in country.
