Greg McElroy and Marcus Spears consider three teams to be the SEC’s biggest overachievers this season.
Speaking on SEC Network’s Thinking Out Loud, the analysts recently broke down why Texas A&M, South Carolina and Kentucky have done the best job of proving doubters wrong.
Yes, arguments can be made for each team. The Aggies (5-2) have won five of six games since that awful season-opening loss to UCLA. The Gamecocks are 5-2, despite the absence of wide receiver Deebo Samuel because of injury. The Wildcats are 5-1, continuing the program’s momentum from last season.

McElroy: “This team is awfully close to making a statement and becoming a dominant force.”
Spears: “Jake Bentley has figured out life without Deebo Samuel.”
McElroy: “I think a lot of people circled Kentucky because of the personnel that was returning and the way they finished [last] season and said, ‘Hey, they’re going to make some noise.’ “
