The SEC’s best shot at keeping up with prolific Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson is still Leonard Fournette, according to Vegas.
Through three games, Jackson has accounted for 1,377 total yards and 18 touchdowns. He is both the nation’s second-leading rusher and its No. 15 passer in terms of yardage. As of Sunday, he solidified himself as the Heisman favorite, as his odds skyrocketed to 6/5.
Fournette carried the ball 28 times for 147 yards and two touchdowns in LSU’s 23-20 win over Mississippi State. The junior is still has the 26th-best rushing total in the country despite being held out of the Jacksonville State game. His odds are down to 25/1 after he opened at 6/1, and there are another seven players besides Jackson sitting higher than Fournette on the leaderboard.
The only other SEC player with better than 50/1 odds is Alabama tailback Damien Harris, who piled up 144 yards rushing on just 16 carries in Alabama’s thriller against Ole Miss.
