One of the SEC’s most coveted defensive tackle prospects has narrowed his list of top schools down to five as we head into January.
D’Andre Christmas-Giles, a 3-star prospect from St. Augustine High School (New Orleans), announced that South Carolina, LSU, Texas, TCU and Ole Miss are in his top five, but in no particular order.
“I am still wide open and sorting through all of my options,” Christmas-Giles announced. “My top (five) can change around.”
The 6-foot-3, 290-pound defensive tackle decommitted from Tennessee earlier this month as his recruitment began to accelerate.
After pledging to the Vols in the summer, Christmas-Giles has reeled in a high volume of offers, largely from SEC powers. That includes his hometown team, LSU, as well as South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Texas A&M, among others.
Earlier in December, Christmas-Giles told SEC Country he was honored to receive the offer from LSU, but a bit confused why it took the Tigers so long to extend an offer his way.
“It meant a lot,” Christmas-Giles said, “but I didn’t know why they came after most schools when I’m right down the street from LSU. It meant a lot to me. They’re a great school.”
Christmas-Giles plans to narrow the list down to three schools before ultimately announcing his choice on National Signing Day (Feb. 3).
The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder is expected to announce his official visit schedule on Jan. 8.
Christmas-Giles is Louisiana’s 22nd-ranked player and the nation’s 40th-rated defensive tackle.
