The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Holmes Community College product is part of the Class of 2016, so he will enroll at Ole Miss this summer and be eligible to play this fall. Coatney has three years of eligibility remaining.
Coatney’s presence is huge for the Rebels’ signing class, which lacked depth along the defensive line. Ole Miss signed just three defensive lineman on National Signing Day.
The Douglasville, Georgia, native is the third player the Rebels have added to the signing class since February. Linebackers Rommel Mageo, who transferred from Oregon State, and Detric Bing-Dukes, a junior college product, also signed with Ole Miss.
