ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit got a good look at Alabama on Saturday night. And he liked what he saw.
So much so that he felt very comfortable joining the rest of the college football world in ranking the Crimson Tide as the No. 1 team in the country following Week 7. But the SEC love did not end there from the popular ESPN College GameDay personality.
In a move that mirrors the AP and Coaches Poll voters, Herbstreit also ranked Georgia as the No. 3 team in the country behind James Franklin’s Penn State squad.
Herbstreit rounded out his top 4 with TCU, while also showing love for Wisconsin and Ohio State as his “next 2” teams.
My top 4 after week 7

At one point during the season, Herbstreit had moved Clemson ahead of Alabama for the No. 1 spot. Given the Tigers’ recent loss to Syracuse, it appears Herbstreit has clearly jumped off that bandwagon for now.
