ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit listed his top Week 8 performers on Twitter on Monday afternoon with the SEC getting its fair share of representation.
Every week, Herbstreit lists five teams and five players that performed the best over the weekend. This week, he named LSU running back Leonard Fournette and Alabama defensive end Jonathan Allen among the standout players, while also listing Auburn as one of the top teams.
Fournette returned from injury to set the program’s single-game rushing record with 284 yards on just 16 carries. He delivered some devastating stiff arms along the way, as the Tigers improved to 3-0 in the Ed Orgeron era with a 38-21 win over Ole Miss.
Allen continued Alabama’s defensive dominance by scoring his second touchdown of the season on a fumble recovery, the Crimson Tide’s 12th non-offensive TD on the year. Now, he’s even playing himself into Heisman Trophy consideration. Allen’s top-ranked Tide improved to 8-0 with a 33-14 win over previously-unbeaten Texas A&M.
Plus, Allen also did this:

Auburn was the lone team to be represented in Herbstreit’s top performers, and deservedly so.
The Tigers handled Arkansas in a 56-3 rout. They exposed all of the Razorbacks’ weaknesses, rushing for an incredible 543 total yards.
A fan tweeted at Herbstreit, criticizing him for not including Alabama among the top five team performers, as well as standout Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson. The ESPN analyst responded with this:
He and Bama should have their own category. Can't give it to them EVERY week. https://t.co/PjUGSjfw6Q
