LeBron James to Florida Atlantic?
Lane Kiffin wants it to happen.
OK, so James will never strap on an Owls uniform. But the former Alabama offensive coordinator, now FAU’s coach, took part in a stroke of marketing genius Thursday when he tweeted a recruiting pitch to the Cleveland Cavaliers star on the first night of the 2017 NBA Finals.
Bravo, Kiffin. And to be honest, James would make an amazing wide receiver.
Sure, this is silly. But it gets us talking, and isn’t that Kiffin’s goal? Mission accomplished.
Certainly, the timing is no accident. The tweet was sent less than 90 minutes before tipoff between the Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors in Game 1 at Oracle Arena.
As you’re likely aware, Kiffin is great at creating buzz. That skill is valuable at a place like FAU, where Kiffin is trying to rebuild his career as a head coach.
You keep doing you, Kiffin. And we’ll all sit back and enjoy.
