Last-second Tennessee FG misses by inches, Florida wins 11th straight
It was fitting that a game as wacky as this one came down to the kicker.
With seconds remaining, Tennessee’s Aaron Medley booted a 55-yard field goal attempt that scraped its way barely outside of the right upright, giving Florida a dramatic 11th consecutive victory over the Vols.
For a minute, the Gators looked as if they had given Tennessee a chance to redeem itself after coach Jim McElwain iced Medley’s first try, which sailed wide right. But fate simply sided with Florida.
In a fashion frustratingly similar to its loss to Oklahoma two weeks ago, Tennessee blew a 27-14 lead when Florida quarterback Will Grier hit Antonio Callaway for an astounding 63-yard touchdown pass.
Football fans were treated to a true classic in The Swamp on Saturday — easily the best college football game of Week 4 thus far.
