The 2018 National Championship game is a very big deal for the city of Atlanta. So much so that Atlanta is closing down schools in part because of the game.
Atlanta area and Fulton county schools have been closed in part due to fear of icy road conditions. But in the official notice, it also states that “due to traffic challenges presented by the College Football Championship game.

Also complicating traffic matters will be the fact that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, will be attending the game as well. Atlanta traffic is also notoriously bad.
It’s been a running joke that in the SEC, “It just means more” especially given that it is the conference’s slogan. But with two SEC teams playing in the title game, in a southern city like Atlanta which will undoubtedly feature a number of Georgia and Alabama fans making the trek, this game really means a lot for SEC fans and the city of Atlanta.
So much so that they’re cancelling school for it.
The game is scheduled for an 8:17 PM ET kickoff. Doors for the game open at Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 5 PM ET.
