It was likely done in good fun. Still, this zinger hurts for Missouri.
Everyone knows Tigers basketball wasn’t in a good place this season. Missouri finished 8-24 before moving on from coach Kim Anderson. On Wednesday, Missouri hired former California coach Cuonzo Martin, a move that was met with mixed reactions.
Even a program like UMKC basketball — yes, the mighty Kangaroos — felt confident enough to offer a playful jab via Twitter.
Check out the tweet below from UMKC basketball’s Twitter account. It proudly declares that “we’re still playing.”

True, the Kangaroos’ season remains alive. On Wednesday, they beat Green Bay — the Phoenix, not the Packers — in CBI action.
It will be fascinating to see if Missouri’s basketball program can become relevant again within the SEC. There’s an opportunity for the Tigers to improve quickly, given that the SEC’s strength as a basketball conference is average at best.
More success would satisfy a hungry fan base and keep online zingers like the one above from seeing the light of day.
Still, you have to give UMKC credit for the creativity.
