LSU-Alabama rated the third most important game remaining this season
The most pivotal game of the SEC season will take place this weekend in Tuscaloosa, Ala., but it might not be the most important game in the country.
The Sporting News’ Bill Bender rated Saturday’s clash between LSU-Alabama as the third best game remaining on the college football schedule. Bender placed Michigan State at Ohio State (Nov. 21) and Baylor at TCU (Nov. 27) ahead of the annual SEC showdown.
“The same-old stakes are on the line,” Bender wrote. “Alabama needs a win to offset its loss to Ole Miss. The Tigers are the lone unbeaten left in the SEC. We get Derrick Henry and Leonard Fournette on the same field playing smash-mouth football. Who could ask for more?”
Well, SEC fans might ask for a boost in Bender’s rankings, but that may be a bit greedy. Bender pretty much summed it up. This weekend’s game will likely hold College Football Playoff ramifications and a LSU loss could make it harder for the SEC to be represented in the Playoff.
