Week 5 in the SEC brings us the heated rivalry between Georgia and Tennessee. And if you thought the exchange between the fan bases of the Volunteers’ and Florida Gators’ faithful last week was palpable, then you’re in for a treat.
Fans of the Vols and Bulldogs have raged all week long at one another online, particularly using the internet’s latest smack-talking craze: memes.
So many memes. We cobbled a few of the best (and not so risqué) memes relating to SEC football heading into Week 5 action.
Les Miserables Miles
LSU finally let the axe fall on its head coach of 11-plus years, serving Les Miles with his walking papers after the Tigers loss to Auburn in Week 4. While LSU struggles in Baton Rouge, its neighbors to the north at Arkansas seem to be thriving under fourth-year head coach Bret Bielema. The Razorbacks head coach brought in former Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads this offseason to offer his tutelage to the Arkansas secondary. Could Bielema extend a similar off to the deposed Miles? Not very likely.
Under Achieve or Under Appreciated?
This one surfaced on the web this week, knocking Auburn by riffing on the apparel company Under Armour. There’s some merit to the meme because the Tigers have seen a run of futility on offense — despite one of the conference’s best running games. Still, a win over the aforementioned LSU has to count for something, right?
UGA-UT = U-G-L-Y
OK, now for what you all came for…Georgia-Tennessee memes. Among the items subject to ridicule are Tennessee running back Jalen Hurd’s man bun and the alleged dirty play of Georgia lineman Brandon Kublanow last year that injured the Vols’ Shy Tuttle. Enjoy at your own peril.
