Alabama’s status as national title favorite isn’t changing any time soon. However, two of its biggest SEC West rivals are suddenly in much better position to contend for a championship.
That’s according to the latest odds, which give LSU a 25/1 chance of winning it all under interim coach Ed Orgeron and Auburn a 40/1 chance after thrashing Arkansas at home, 56-3. Both teams are now 5-2; Auburn has tallied four victories in a row, while the Bayou Bengals are winners of three straight.
Texas A&M, in light of Saturday’s 33-14 loss in Tuscaloosa, dropped to fourth among SEC teams with 75/1 title odds.
The Crimson Tide saw their odds improve slightly, up to 8/5 from last week’s mark of 9/4. Ohio State (9/2) and Michigan (6/1) are considered the teams with the best shot at dethroning Alabama.
