Nation’s No. 1 OLB postpones commitment date
Potential coaching changes in the coming weeks has Lyndell Wilson rethinking his commitment date.
On Tuesday morning, the 5-star outside linebacker from Montgomery, Ala., announced he will postpone his commitment date amid possible head coaching changes. He was originally scheduled to announce on Dec. 4.
“I talked it over with my family,” Wilson started. “And with all the head coaching changes, I would like to hold off on releasing my top 5 & also committing Dec. 4. My commitment date will be pushed back and I will keep everyone updated with when I’ll make the decision. I would like to thank you all for being patient with me. And God bless!”
Wilson’s decision doesn’t come as a total surprise. Kirby Smart is his lead recruiter at Alabama and many believe it’s a two-team race between the Tide and Florida. Smart has been rumored to be a front-runner for the UGA opening on the heels of Mark Richt’s departure, and where he ends up could alter Wilson’s course of action. Last month, Wilson declared Florida his leader.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound senior is rated as the No. 1 outside linebacker in the country.
