The family of one of Mississippi’s top football prospects wants to make it clear that he loves his home state.
Nero Nelson is a 3-star safety from Hollandale, Miss., who has been committed to Mississippi State since last summer. Earlier this week, Nelson said he was interested in the idea of going out of state for college for new experiences, which caused some concerns among Mississippi State fans.
His mother set the record straight to SEC Country on Friday.
“I want to clarify my son’s comments,” Sharon Buchanan said. “He has been under a lot of stress from the recruiting process.
“To make things clear, my son loves the state of Mississippi. He loves Mississippi State football. That’s his first choice and he’s solid with his commitment. So we want to make sure people know that.”
The 29th annual Alabama-Mississippi all-star game will be played Saturday in Hattiesburg, Miss.
