One NFL.com writer named two SEC quarterbacks among those he’d want in a game’s biggest moment.
Chase Goodbread listed Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts and Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham among the 17 quarterbacks he’d want with a game on the line. Hurts, of course, had a breakout year with the Crimson Tide last season in throwing for 2,780 yards with 23 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Stidham has received quite a bit of hype after arriving as a transfer from Baylor, where he threw for 1,265 yards with 12 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in 2015.
Be sure to click here to read Goodbread’s entire piece and to see the explanations for the inclusion of Hurts and Stidham. Those are solid picks. Hurts, after all, made so much progress last year in his debut season with Alabama. Stidham, who’s 6-foot-3, 214 pounds, has the athletic and physical tools to be successful in a hurry at Auburn.
Both will be fun to watch in the coming months. Don’t be surprised if Hurts and Stidham put up big numbers and lead their respective teams to impressive victories.
