Ten weeks into the 2016 college football season and the SEC Country Power Poll has taken on a familiar look.
The SEC West is head and shoulders above the rest of the conference.
Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, LSU and Arkansas fill out the top five spots this week after a week in which three of the five won.
LSU, which gave top-ranked Alabama all it could handle, lost to No. 1 Alabama.
“These guys were believing that they could beat this football team, and I was there with them,” LSU interim coach Ed Orgeron said after Alabama’s 10-0 win Saturday. “If we’d have executed a little bit better tonight, I think the results would have been different.”
The 26-person panel includes voters from SEC Country and around the nation.
Florida dropped two spots to No. 6 after losing 31-10 to Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. Tennessee remained seventh and Georgia was the only other team from the SEC East to crack the poll’s top 10 this week. The Bulldogs inched up to No. 9 after a last-play field goal beat Kentucky.
What does that mean? It means the race to Atlanta from the SEC East could become a huge mess.
Mississippi State made the biggest move of the week, vaulting from 13th to 10th after stunning the Aggies 35-28.
The bottom four teams in this week’s poll reside in the SEC East.
