Kentucky was the only team representing the SEC in Monday’s edition of the Associated Press Top 25 rankings. The Wildcats (19-6, 9-3 SEC) moved up eight spots to No. 14 in the poll after earning two dominant victories over UGA and South Carolina last week. Kentucky has started to play its best basketball as the regular season approaches the homestretch.
After being ranked as high as No. 5 three weeks ago, Texas A&M fell outside of the Top 25 completely. The Aggies are reeling after losing their fourth consecutive game and fifth straight games in conference. Texas A&M has dropped from No. 5, to No. 8, to No. 15, to out of the rankings entirely in just a matter of weeks. The Aggies did receive 90 votes this week from outside the rankings, looking in.
Texas A&M will have a chance to rebound Saturday when they welcome the Wildcats to College Station, Texas for a pivotal battle at the top of the SEC standings.
