While the SEC may not be the best conference in college football anymore, it still produces the top players.
Chris Burke of Sports Illustrated released a mock draft for the 2017 NFL Mock Draft, and the SEC was well represented. A total of 13 players appeared in the top 32 picks, including the No. 1 overall pick and five of the top nine.
Myles Garrett was pegged as the No. 1 overall pick to the Cleveland Browns. Garrett has already racked up 3.0 sacks this season and has emerged as one of the best pass rushers in all of college football. Alabama defensive lineman Jonathan Allen was pegged to go No. 3 to the Chicago Bears. Jalen ‘Teez’ Tabor was slated to go No. 6 to the Miami Dolphins. LSU safety Jamal Adams is projected to go No. 7 to Tampa Bay. Leonard Fournette is scheduled to go No. 9 to the Buffalo Bills.
The SEC had eight players selected in the first round of last year’s draft, with Leonard Floyd of Georgia being the first off the board at No. 9.
