After cruising through the quarterfinals, No. 1 seed Tim Tebow and No. 4 seed Cam Newton will face off in the semis. The two eliminated Joe Namath and Johnny Manziel, respectively, in the last round.
Newton tallied 2,908 passing yards, 1,586 rushing yards and 54 touchdowns during his three seasons between Florida and Auburn. Tebow racked up 9,285 passing yards, 2,946 rushing yards and 145 touchdowns in four years at Florida.
The other battle is a family affair between Archie Manning (6-seed) and son Peyton (3-seed). The elder Manning, who knocked out Florida’s Danny Wuerffel in the quarterfinal round, is certainly an underdog to his son, who beat out Steve Spurrier in convincing fashion.
Archie Manning spent three years at Ole Miss, where he finished with 4,753 passing yards, 823 rushing yards and 56 touchdowns. Over the course of four campaigns, Peyton Manning threw for 11,201 yards and a combined 101 touchdowns at Tennessee. (Although he finished with 12 rushing scores, Peyton finished his college career with negative yards on the ground).
Voting is conducted on Finebaum’s Twitter account and is open for 24 hours.
