Former Auburn and current Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has received a lot of criticism about his actions following the Panthers loss to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50 on Sunday.
However, Broncos quarterback and former Tennessee great Peyton Manning came to the defense of Newton during an interview on “The Today Show” on Monday.
“Cam couldn’t have been nicer to me,” Manning said. “He was extremely humble. He congratulated me and wished me the best. I told him congratulations on his outstanding season and what a great future he has ahead of him.
“He’ll be back in that game I can promise you. I’ve been on that side of it. It’s tough. It’s not an easy pill to swallow. He was very nice to me, and I appreciated that.”
