Shepherd Center and Southern University will hold a joint press conference to discuss the latest information on injured Southern player Devon Gales on Thursday at 1:3o p.m. ET.
Gales was transferred to Atlanta’s Shepherd Center on Wednesday for specialized treatment and rehabilitation following a severe spinal injury suffered against UGA on Sept. 26.
Available to answer questions will be Shepherd Center’s associate medical director Brock Bowman M.D., Southern’s assistant athletic director Earl Hill and Kimberly Walpert, M.D., the Athens Regional Medical Center neurosurgeon who treated Mr. Gales.
In response to the care that UGA provided for Gales following his injury, Southern’s president, Ray Belton, penned an open letter to UGA thanking the school for all that it had done.
Southern University has also established a fundraising account to help Gales and his family.
