And then there were 11.
A Reddit user has created a list of the remaining unbeaten FBS teams, and it’s striking to see only 11 are left. Of course, Alabama and Texas A&M represent the SEC after both enjoyed victories Saturday. The Crimson Tide dispatched host Arkansas 49-30 in Fayetteville, and the Aggies survived a dramatic whiplash experience against Tennessee 45-38 in double overtime in College Station.
Both SEC survivors enter treacherous territory soon. No. 1 Alabama plays at Tennessee next Saturday, and Texas A&M has a bye week before traveling to face the Crimson Tide on Oct. 22.
There are some traditional names on the list — Clemson, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State and Washington — but it’s fun to see programs such as Boise State and Western Michigan included this late into the season. Baylor and West Virginia also remain perfect.
One thing is for sure: It will be fascinating to see how the rest of the fall shakes out as the race for the College Football Playoff heats up.
