More details have emerged about Aaron Hernandez’s death.
As reported by WBZ Boston’s Meagan Kolkmann on Wednesday, the former Florida tight end was found in his cell with a Bible verse — John 3:16 — written on his forehead. After some initial confusion about the material that was used to write the verse, FOX 25’s Caitlin McLaughlin reported that a red marker was the tool of choice.

Officials say Hernandez, 27, committed suicide early Wednesday by hanging himself in his cell at Souza Baranowski Correctional Center around 3:05 a.m. The former player had been serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.
Last Friday, he was found not guilty of two murders that happened in 2012. An attorney for Hernandez has called for an investigation into the former player’s death.
Hernandez played for the Gators for 2007-09, where he totaled a career-best 850 yards receiving in 2009. A fourth-round pick by the New England Patriots in 2010, Hernandez had 1,956 yards receiving and 18 touchdowns with New England from 2010-12.
