The president of the United States, Donald Trump, is set to attend the national championship game Monday between Alabama and Georgia, which is set to be broadcast on ESPN.
However, it appears “unlikely” that Trump will do any interview with the network, according to a report from Ralph Russo of the Associated Press.
A network executive did say that Trump will be shown during the game.
“We’re still taking to the White House. I don’t get the sense he’s going to do an interview,” ESPN executive Stephanie Druley told Russo. “We will, obviously, show him at the game when we see where he is sitting.”
Trump publicly criticized ESPN in October over comments that SportsCenter anchor Jemele Hill made. A number of other ESPN personalities have made negative comments regarding Trump.
Georgia and Alabama will play on Monday night. It will be the first time that two teams from the same conference meet in the national title game since 2012, when Alabama met LSU.
