There’s a major football game going on between USC and Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., on Saturday evening. But for many of those in attendance, football is the furthest thing from the mind.
Notre Dame public relations announced that a 76-year-old man who was attending the game has passed away after going into cardiac arrest. Here’s the official statement, per a tweet from Peter Byrne of WSBT:
“A 76-year-old man attending Saturday night’s Notre Dame football game went into cardiac arrest at about 8:10 p.m. Paramedics from the Notre Dame and South Bend Fire Departments and a doctor responded immediately, but their resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.”
The Fighting Irish are enjoying a comfortable lead over the Trojans on the field, but that seems very insignificant in light of this unfortunate news. Our thoughts and prayers are with the unidentified man’s family and friends during this difficult time.
