UGA landed Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart to be its next coach, but as Lee Corso so eloquently puts it: not so fast.
Smart will remain with Alabama for the SEC championship game and the ensuing bowl game or College Football Playoff tilt, according to CBSSports.com’s Dennis Dodd.
Smart, who has helped Alabama to a No. 2 ranking in total defense and No. 3 in scoring defense this season, will be on the Georgia Dome sideline Saturday when No. 2 Alabama faces No. 18 Florida in the SEC championship game.
If Alabama wins, it will make the College Football Playoff. If the Tide lose, Smart will coach the defense for whatever bowl game the team lands in.
