The options for a Florida-LSU game are dwindling.
According to ESPN‘s Brett McMurphy, moving the SEC Championship game “simply will not happen,” a source told McMurphy. This would rule out a potential Dec. 3 matchup between LSU and Florida.
This comes a day after Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity said it would be impractical for Georgia to move its Oct. 29 game so Florida and LSU could play.
Given these two statements it is becoming more and more likely that the only date that the Florida-LSU game could be made up is on Nov. 19. McMurphy laid out a scenario in which a variety of Sun Belt team’s shuffle around their schedules so Florida and LSU could play a game that was originally scheduled for Oct. 8.
On Monday, LSU athletic director Joe Alleva, Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley and SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey all released statements on the potential game.
LSU plays Southern Miss this week, while Florida takes on Missouri.
