South Carolina has already poached a number of Auburn’s coaches, and the Gamecocks could be getting one more.
Auburn interim defensive coordinator Lance Thompson has “a real possibility” to land on Will Muschamp’s staff at South Carolina, according to FootballScoop.
Thompson replaced Muschamp as Auburn’s defensive coordinator after Muschamp was named the Gamecocks’ coach.
South Carolina has already allotted positions to Travaris Robinson and Bobby Bentley. Both of whom were previously on Auburn’s coaching staff with Muschamp this past season.
Thompson was hired as Auburn’s linebackers coach prior to the 2015 season. He previously spent time at Alabama, where he was named the No. 1 recruiter in the nation by ESPN in 2008.
Thompson and Muschamp were both assistant coaches on LSU’s staff in 2002-03.
