— For all us journalists out there wishing we made football coach money, now you do … well, more like fired coach with a noted drinking problem money. AL.com reported Steve Sarkisian is make $35,000 as an offensive analyst at Alabama. Not a bad rate for the Tide considering USC was paying him more $4 million per season.

— John Canzano of The Oregonian spoke with Sports Illustrated’s Andy Staples, who suggested Lane Kiffin could be what the program needs to turn around the Ducks.
“Lane Kiffin fascinates me,” Staples said. “If Lane Kiffin had never been a head coach before, and you just laid out here’s the last three years and what he’s done at Alabama, he’d be the hottest candidate in the country behind Tom Herman. But we know what Lane Kiffin has done as a coach… I wonder if maybe it would work out this time around… he’s an aggressive recruiter and Oregon definitely needs that.”
— Ed Orgeron was feeling pretty good about his chance to be the guy at LSU after a blowout win over Missouri.

— Nick Saban said he and Bill Belichick did lots of things together when they were on the same staff with the Cleveland Browns, including sneak out to see the Eagles, Ringo Starr and other old dudes you’d imagine the two would listen to and grimace with joy.
— Continuing his media tour Thursday, Saban was asked on his weekly radio show to name a handful of the most talented players he’s coached with the Tide. He named seven, and none played defense.
— LSU and Florida postponed their weekend matchup due to concerns surrounding Hurricane Matthew. The internet responded accordingly.
