Every Sunday, SEC Country will unveil its offensive and defensive recruits of the week based on their weekend performance. In order to qualify, recruits must have at least two SEC offers. This week’s SEC Country Defensive Recruit of the Week honors goes to Tre Shaw, a cornerback from Ellenwood, Ga.
SEC Country’s Defensive Recruit of the Week: Tre Shaw
Shaw, a 4-star cornerback in 2017, was a playmaker for Cedar Grove in its 41-25 win over Westside on Friday. The 6-foot, 180-pound cornerback checked off almost every major defensive statistic.

“I could have played better on both sides of the ball,” Shaw told SEC Country. “I have to be more focused this week for the semifinals.”

DT, Antwuan Jackson, Cedar Grove High School, Ga. (Undecided) — One of the top defensive tackles in the country, Jackson registered five tackles, 0.5 sacks and a fumble recovery in Cedar Grove’s 41-25 win over Westside.
C.J. Morgan, CB, Parkway, La. (committed to Mississippi State) — Morgan recorded the game-sealing touchdown when he returned an interception 85 yards in Parkway’s 49-34 win over Destrehan, per NOLA.com.
Tyrel Dodson, LB, Centennial High School, Tenn. (committed to Texas A&M) — Dodson, a former recipient of SEC Country’s Defensive Recruit of the Week honors, registered 13 tackles in Centennial’s 56-16 loss to Independence.
Elysee Mbem-Bosse, LB, Cedar Grove High School, Ga. (Undecided) — The 4-star prospect, according to Rivals.com, racked up 13 tackles, two sacks and four tackles for loss as Cedar Grove topped Westside, 41-25.
Mark Jackson, Jr., DE, Cibolo Steele High School, Texas (committed to Texas A&M) — The Aggies commit and 4-star prospect recorded five tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack in Steele’s 28-10 win over Del Rio.
Xavier McKinney, DB, Roswell, Ga. (committed to Alabama) — The 2017 prospect registered seven tackles and two pass break-ups in Roswell’s 17-10 win over Collins Hill.
