Every Sunday, SEC Country will unveil its offensive and defensive recruits of the week based on their weekend performance. In order to qualify, recruits must have at least two SEC offers. This week’s SEC Country Defensive Recruit of the Week honors goes to Xavier McKinney, an Alabama commit from Roswell, Ga.
SEC Country’s Defensive Recruit of the Week: Xavier McKinney
In the first round of Georgia state playoffs, Xavier McKinney was a difference maker for his high school. The 2017 defensive back and Alabama commit capitalized on both sides of the ball en route to Roswell’s 63-25 win over Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.).
- Five tackles
- Two interceptions
- Two pass break-ups
- Kickoff returned for a touchdown
“I think it was one of the overall best games I’ve played in high school,” McKinney told SEC Country. “But I could have made a couple more plays. I was just ready to put on a show.”
