DESTIN, Fla. — The SEC has opted to keep its baseball tournament in Hoover, Ala.
The vote Friday to keep the tournament at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium was unanimous.
The length of the upcoming contract has yet to be determined, commissioner Greg Sankey said. The event will enter its 20th straight year in Hoover starting in 2017.
Five cities submitted bids: Hoover, New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville and Jacksonville. But Hoover, a suburb of Birmingham which has hosted the event for the past 19 years, has won out.
The Hoover Met is making upgrades, including practice fields. Total parking will also increase to 5,000 on-site spaces in the near future.
