It’s time once again to deliver the winners for this week’s SEC games. Of course, this is getting harder to do seeing how the conference is becoming more unpredictable than Bret Bielema at a postgame press conference. But nonetheless…
UGA +1.5 at Auburn
The 2013 UGA-Auburn game had such an improbable conclusion that it became known as the “Prayer at Jordan-Hare.” This year’s game features two teams having such disappointing seasons that the matchup probably ought to be called the “Despair at Jordan-Hare.” However, UGA will exit this game feeling a little better about itself.
Tennessee -41.5 vs. North Texas
Earlier this week Tennessee coach Butch Jones said he thought the Vols were “closing the gap” on the rest of the SEC. This makes me think Jones should probably be “closing the mouth” when he’s near a microphone. Have no worries about laying the 41.5 this week though. North Texas is awful. The Mean Green are worse at college football than Donald Trump is at combing his hair.
South Carolina +8 vs. Florida
The biggest question leading up to this game has been whether Steve Spurrier would show up at the stadium on Saturday. However, what fans should be asking is whether or not the Florida offense will show up. Because of the Gators difficulty scoring points, Shawn Elliott and the Gamecocks will figure out a way to keep another one close.
Mississippi State +8 vs. Alabama
This has not been a stellar season for quarterback play in the SEC. This year, being the best quarterback in the league is a little like being the prettiest girl at a comic book convention. There just isn’t a lot of competition for the honor. That said, Dak Prescott is truly special, and he’ll play well enough on Saturday to give Alabama a scare.
Kentucky +3.5 at Vanderbilt
To be frank, I’d rather watch an old pickup truck rust than watch this game.
Texas A&M -36.5 vs Western Carolina.
It’s the Aggies vs. the Catamounts in a contest that should be sponsored by Google based on the amount of fans from the opposing team that will search for the answer to “What is an Aggie?” and “What is a Catamount?” before this one on Saturday.
LSU -7.5 vs. Arkansas
This game features two teams trying to get the Golden Boot. Unfortunately, it was LSU’s playoff chances that probably got the boot last week. The Tigers will get some revenge on Saturday.
BYU – 6.5 vs. Missouri
Best wishes to the folks at Missouri to find peace and harmony on their campus soon.
