The SEC was well represented in Pro Football Focus‘ first mock draft. The top two picks are a pair of players considered to be the best defensive linemen in the conference.
The site has Alabama defensive lineman Jonathan Allen going No. 1 to the Cleveland Browns, and Texas A&M pass rusher Myles Garrett going No. 2 to the San Francisco 49ers. The site added that it could be a toss-up between the two players.
At No. 4, the site has projected that the Jaguars will take Tennessee Voulunteer Derek Barnett. Barnett leads the conference with 10 sacks. Auburn’s Carl Lawson, and Florida’s Jalen Tabor also appeared in the top 10 of the mock draft.
Eight other SEC players, including the leagues leading tackler Zach Cunningham, joined the five top-10 picks in the mock draft, giving the league the most of any conference on the list. Alabama has five of the first round picks on the list.
