Sporting News revealed its 2017 college football All-Americans, and nine SEC players were among those honored.
Auburn led the way with four overall selections. Alabama had two, while Florida, Georgia and LSU each had one apiece.
The SEC didn’t produce any first-team players on offense, but it did see two get selected on defense, and those were Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith and Alabama safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Sporting News is one of five outlets that determine consensus All-Americans, along with the Walter Camp Football Foundation, The Associated Press, the Football Writers Association of America and the American Football Coaches Association. Sporting News has been part of that panel since 1959.
