The College Football Playoff may be viewed by some programs and fans as the gorgeous model who plays hard to get. The battle to get into the College Football Playoff is a courtship with teams vying for the love of the CFP committee.
A few SEC schools tried to win the hearts of the CFP in a silly spoof video by AL.com. In the video, a woman portraying the College Football Playoff “speed dated” with men acting as LSU, Ole Miss and Florida, while ex-lover Alabama tried to rekindle an old flame. Auburn and Arkansas also tried to win over the woman but were rejected immediately.
Alabama’s encounter with its ex-girlfriend might have been awkward at first, but the SEC favorites immediately reestablished the love connection with the CFP. The two also had a good laugh about Alabama’s chances against rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl next weekend. No way Auburn pulls the upset, right?
Florida was another capable bachelor fighting for the love of the CFP, but there could be a love triangle brewing between Alabama and the suddenly confident Gators. That triangle may be settled in the SEC Championship game in a few weeks.
Speaking of the SEC championship, Ole Miss has never played in the title game. The bashful Rebels weren’t sure what to say when asked about the possibility of playing in Atlanta. It wasn’t exactly a perfect first impression. She even asked Ole Miss whether the win over Alabama was a fluke.
A defensive LSU was forced to address a little bit of baggage that occurred last weekend. Ms. CFP was not impressed with LSU’s 31-14 loss to Arkansas, and it might have been a deal-breaker for the Tigers. Unfortunately, LSU was not good-looking enough for the CFP, which was extremely shallow.
In the end, Alabama earned another date with the CFP.
