Around 50 of the country’s top football prospects will be in attendance for Alabama’s home game against Arkansas on Saturday.
Among the group will be several marquee recruits, including Ben Davis (Gordo, Ala.), Lyndell Wilson (Carver, Ala.), Nigel Knott (Madison, Miss.), Jake Fromm (Warner Robins, Ga.) and Davis Mills (Norcross, Ga.), the AJC’s SEC Country has confirmed.
With the exception of Mills, the other four recruits have been linked to Alabama in one way or another.
Davis, the No. 1 inside linebacker, has long been considered a strong Crimson Tide lean given that his father, Wayne Davis, is the program’s all-time leading tackler. The 5-star confirmed to the AJC’s SECCountry.com that he’ll take an official visit to Alabama later this fall.
Wilson, on the other hand, just named Florida his leader earlier this month. The 5-star outside linebacker listed Alabama as his No. 4 school, though 91 percent of 247Sports.com’s Crystal Ball predictions peg him committing to the Crimson Tide.
Alabama appears to still be the favorite for Knott, too, who took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Sept. 12. Originally, the 5-star cornerback was scheduled to announce his college decision on Sept. 23 but called it off following an official visit to Oregon on Sept. 19. A second unofficial visit to Alabama in as many months could be a telling sign.
Fromm and Mills, two of the top quarterbacks in 2017, will also be in attendance. It’s been known for a week now that Fromm, a 4-star from Houston County High School, has narrowed down his list to Ole Miss and Alabama. This will be Fromm’s second unofficial visit to Alabama since September. On the other hand, Mills, a 4-star from Greater Atlanta Christian, will be visiting Alabama for the first time in a somewhat surprising move. He holds an offer from Arkansas.
