Shareef O’Neal, son of Hall of Fame center, commits to Arizona over LSU, others
Class of 2018 forward Shareef O’Neal committed to Arizona on early Wednesday according to CBS Sports reporter Gary Parrish. The son of Hall of Fame center Shaquille O’Neal is the 31st ranked prospect in his class according to 247Sports.
O’Neal’s father, an LSU alum, mentioned on numerous occasions that he wanted his son to play at Kentucky.
“My dad actually wants me to lean towards Kentucky,” Shareef O’Neal told Sean Scherer of 247Sports. “He has a good friendship with the coach there. I know a lot about that school because a lot of kids dream about going there. I like their style of play.”
Instead, the 6-foot-9 product is off to play for Sean Miller’s Wildcats after reportedly holding other offers from LSU, UCLA, California and South California.
