Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is reportedly in the mix to be the next South Carolina coach, and he may already be in the process of assembling his staff.
Muschamp has reached out to Clemson co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Jeff Scott about becoming the Gamecocks’ offensive coordinator, according to TigerIllustrated.com’s Larry Williams.
Scott has helped top-ranked Clemson average 502.5 total yards (14th nationally) and 37.9 points per game (15th nationally) this season.
The Clemson assistant was named a top-25 recruiter by Rivals.com in 2015 and a top-10 recruiter by ESPN in 2014.
Scott is a Clemson alumnus and joined the Tigers staff as a graduate assistant in 2008. He was promoted to his full-time role after Tommy Bowden’s resignation.
Scott also helped Blythewood High School (S.C.) to a state championship in the program’s first season.
