South Carolina commit to visit Tennessee this weekend
While South Carolina is searching for its new head coach, Tennessee is searching for a top-flight defensive end. And it has a Gamecocks commitment in mind.
The Vols will host 4-star defensive end Jordan Smith for an official visit this weekend, a source close to his recruitment told SEC Country. Smith, who is from Lithonia High (Lithonia, Ga.), committed to the Gamecocks in July over scholarship offers from several schools.
Despite Smith’s commitment, there is an opportunity for the Vols to step in. South Carolina is in the process of trying to find a head coach after Steve Spurrier resigned in October. Smith, a 6-foot-5 ½, 220-pound prospect, took an unofficial visit to Tennessee on Nov. 7.
