No surprise: South Carolina and Florida are well-represented on the all-East Region team.
As released Sunday evening after the Gamecocks beat the Gators to advance to the Final Four, four of the five players on the all-East Region team are from either South Carolina or Florida. The Gamecocks’ Sindarius Thornwell and PJ Dozier made the cut, in addition to the Gators’ KeVaughn Allen and Chris Chiozza.
Wisconsin’s Nigel Hayes was the lone non-SEC representative on the list.

What an accomplishment for SEC basketball. The East Region final already was a big moment for the league after South Carolina beat Baylor on Friday and Florida followed with an overtime win over Wisconsin.
The SEC was going to be a big winner at Madison Square Garden no matter what happened between the Gamecocks and Gators. But the fact that four of the five players on the all-East Region team come from the league is another feather in the SEC’s cap.
The Gamecocks won the region. But the SEC might have been the biggest victor of all after the action ended at Madison Square Garden.
